Homework - Grade 6

Homework that is posted at this site is project in nature.  Our daily work 
that needs to be finished from class is not posted at this site.


You and your partner will create a seven page notebook presentation over the next month. 
Remember that you will have to speak to each of your pages when you present to the class. A final 
presentation date will be given to you during the third week of October, but expect to present near 
the beginning of November.  You will have two periods a week ot work in the computer room.  Come 
prepared to create a slide since you will need to create about two slides a week.  Please use your 
time wisely.

Use words and drawings to define each of the pillars.  Also provide and example of each.

Rules
Describe why a society has rules and what are these rules in Canada.

Members of a Canadian Society.
Create and Acrostic poem using the word Canadian .  The poem should demonstrate your 
understanding of Canadian Citizenship.

Why do we need a government?  Create a web with the word government in the centre.  Add the 
three main areas of concern to your web.  Show examples of how government meets each of these 
concerns.  Us images, symbols and words to complete your web.

Responsibilities as Citizens
Explain what rights and responsibilities of a society are.  Think about your responsibilities as a 
member of a community.  Make a list of the way that citizens can work in a democracy.

The Charter of Rights and Freedoms
Explain how the Charter of Rights and Freedoms protects the rights of all people in Canada.  Explain 
how the Charter supports the democratic principle of equity.  How does the Charter of Rights and 
Freedoms reflect the values we share as Canadians?
