Mr. Scott McIndless CEO of Heritage Educational Foundation and the Hon. Bev Oda present the 2009 NEAT Award

I am excited to have an opportunity to teach here in Grande Cache. As I
begin the 17th year of my teaching career, it is great to be teaching at
SonRise Christian School. Before last year, all my previous experience was
in a Christian School in Ontario at a school called Durham Christian Academy.
I was extremely honoured in October 2009 to be the recipient of the 2009
NEAT Award, which is the National Excellence Award for Teachers, presented by
Heritage Educational Foundation. This award is given to 5 educators across
Canada. Special thanks to those who nominated me and to all my students,
past and present, who inspire me each day.

It is exciting to have an opportunity to learn new things and to experience a
new school family. I have always taught in the grade 3-6 range, but primarily
the grade 3 & 4 class. I enjoy working with the students to help them learn
new things and to learn along with them. It is encouraging to see a student
grasp a new concept or to see them achieve a successful grade in their work.
I trust that this upcoming year will be a great one for all my students.
Please feel free to contact me anytime with your thoughts.

Mission For The Class

It is my prayer for this class that they will come to school eager to do
their best each day. A lot can be achieved when there is a willingness and
a positive attitude to learn new things. I believe that our class is like a
big family and as a result, I expect students to treat others with respect.
If we all put others ahead of ourselves than we will all benefit from
working together this year.
