Phonics:  This week we will assess what needs to be reviewed, and then begin 
phonics instruction with targeted skills that need remediating.   
Reading:  We are reading the story Ruby in Her Own Time and the corresponding 
high frequency words from the story. There will be a test on Ruby in Her Own 
Time and words on Thursday. There will be a dictation test on Friday.
Math:  We will learn to write the numbers 56-59, compare and order objects by 
length, measure length using nonstandard units, write 0-10 using words, 
identify pairs, graph pieces used to cover a design, and read a graph.  There 
will be a math test on Friday.
Social Studies:  This week we will be doing Christmas art, stories, etc.
Writing:  This week we will be writing letters to Santa and our parents for 
the holidays. Let me know if you do not want your child’s letter to Santa 
published in the paper.
 Homework: Monday-Thursday: read books in homework folder, and complete math 
sheet. Read at least 30 minutes every night and document this on the reading 
log. Have your child read his/her poem to you and sign the back. Spelling 
Homework: Monday: write the words 4 times each.  Tuesday- choose 5 spelling 
words and write a sentence with each word. Wednesday: put: after        
cash         way      bath       from
in ABC order. Thursday- review spelling words missed on practice test and 
prepare for test on Friday.
