This year for a class Christmas project, we have decided that we will take
part in
“GIVING A GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GIVING”.
We have the opportunity through this project to change the life of a child,
of a family, of a village. Depending upon the amount collected, we have
different options of sponsoring gifts. If each child could send $6.00 (you
may send more if you’d like), we would have $114.00. When added to other
classroom amounts we would be able to give items such as: goats, chickens, a
cow, rabbits, etc. to two or more struggling families. With this gift, it
would supply eggs, milk, and meat to feed children and save families. Also,
with the extra eggs and milk the family would have opportunities to trade or
sell the eggs for other goods needed. This would be a gift this family would
NEVER forget.
Instead of exchanging gifts at Christmas, the students and I are going to
participate in this project. We are all so blessed for all that we have and I
want to take the opportunity to educate our children on the character
education topics~ Thankfulness and Helping Others who are less fortunate. By
participating in this project, we will have lessons on: helping others, being
selfless, “It’s better to give than to receive”, and being thankful for what
we have~ the little things in life that we all take for granted.
We are trying to teach the children how important it is to help others who
are less fortunate that we are.
Please send $6.00, more if you would like, to the classroom in the attached
envelope marked “CHRISTMAS PROJECT” by Friday, December 9th.
Like I said before, we will participate in this project instead of the
students exchanging gifts in the classroom. Each student will be presented
with a certificate at the Christmas Party for their participation in the
project. I will also have a list of all the things that we were able to give
and will announce them during the party.
Thank-you for your willingness to help me to teach your children that:
“GIVING TO OTHERS IS SOMETHING THAT WE CAN ALL DO AND THAT WE CAN MAKE A
DIFFERENCE”.
