I have been a librarian since 1991. My first library position was at Elberta School K-8 from 1991-
1993. In 1993 I transferred to the Fairhope K-1 Center where I served as librarian until the school
closed.
Reading has been my favorite hobby since I was a little girl. I want to help my students develop
that same love for books and to help them discover the joy, adventure, and knowledge one can
discover in books. Another main goal is to teach my students the library is the place to find answers
to their questions. It is a magical place filled with great stories and all kinds of interesting
information.
Since I am a book lover, I have continued my education throughout my teaching career. I have my
Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Media, which I obtained from the University of South
Alabama in 2002. I am also certified in Early Childhood Education and Secondary English Education.
In 2005, I became a National Board Certified Teacher in Library Media.
On a personal level, I am married to Robert Normand, a music teacher and professional musician.
We have three children: Sean and twins named Allison and Dorian. Our children are grown, and we
fill our empty nest with a wonderful little Schnauzer named Sadie. I am also a fitness nut, which
means I wake up at 5 A.M. to exercise (lift weights or do yoga). I try to eat healthy foods but
am known to indulge in anything with chocolate!
I hope you can tell I love my job. Please come visit our cozy library. If you have any questions or
concerns, just email me.
