Does my child need to read at home everyday?

Yes! Decades of research show that students who read more read better.
They develop more expansive vocabularies and achieve higher levels of
reading and writing development.
This is particularly true for students who have daily opportunities to read,
year after year.

Daily time to read at school and at home is one of the best ways for your child to:

1. Learn new vocabulary and information.
2. Increase speed and fluency (that is, read smoothly and accurately).
3. Improve comprehension.
4. Notice author's writing styles (which in turn helps their own writing).
5. Develop a greater interest in reading and learning.
6. Develop a love of reading.

What should I do with the green folder?

Every two weeks I will send home a folder filled with your child's work and other announcements.
Please sign the sheet of paper on the cover of the folder and return it to school with your child.
You may also write down any comments or questions you have.
