My name is Mrs. Cantrell and I teach first grade at Mount Olive Elementary
School in Alabama. I will be starting my 5th year at Mount Olive. This will
be my first year teaching first grade. I am very excited about the change.
Previously I taught second grade and loved it. I felt that I needed a change,
I'm praying this is a good change. Previously I was in the Medical Field
working as a Certified Medical Assistant. I decided the medical field was no
longer for me, so in August of 2000 I enrolled in college to become a
teacher. I hold a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Education/K-6 Elementary/K-
6 Collaborative Degree.
I married my high school sweet heart (Garry) and we have been together for a
total of 28 years. Married for 24 of those years. We have four sons, one
daughter in law and one granddaughter, who is named Aniyah Jade and a
grandson who is named Jaylen Christopher. My oldest son Christopher is in the
United States Navy and lives in San Diego, CA.
Cameron graduated in May from high school, Joshua will be in 10th grade, and
Tristan will be in the seventh grade for the 2009-2010 school year. Cameron
is planning on joining the United States Army reserved very soon. Two down
and two to go, we are almost there.
This web site is intended for use by my first grade class at Mount Olive.
Parents are also invited to view it, as well as other teachers. Feel free to
use any of my ideas, some are mine and some belong to others. I will make a
note when I use others ideas, and can you please do the same.
My mission for my class is that all students will learn at their own pace,
and that they will be able to learn in a safe, and caring environment.
