Some of the events we are anticipating this year are:
Jefferson County Newcomb Play Days
The Third Annual Aerobics Day Canned Food Drive at Thanksgiving - This was a HUGE success last
year bringing in nearly 1,500 cans of food we were able to donate to a local food bank! Thanks!
During the past two years, we have participated in Jump Rope for Heart. In 2007-2008, $4,500
was raised with $6,200 raised in 2006 - 2007 for the American Heart association. This year, we
are looking into some different options such as a Diabetes Walk which also effects many of our
students here.
Jefferson County Track and Field Play Day
The new Physical Fitness Testing! - We're changing the way we assess our student's health. Out
with the old, and in with the new. As a department, we are very excited to do away with the
Mile Run test and move on to a way that's much more enjoyable for our children and gives us a
more accurate and complete method of assessment for our students!
And of course, the ever popular Field Day in May. Last year's theme was the "All-American Field
Day" and we had a blast participating Wacky Games and Relays!
We're looking forward to an exciting year and can't wait to get started!!!
