Weekly News Letter

                                       December 14, 2009

     Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. It was beautiful after all the
rain stopped, so we took our grandson to see the lights at the Montgomery
Zoo. It is so heartwarming to see that the Christmas spirit is alive and
well in Alabama.
We have another review week in reading and math due to the holiday
activities and the shortened week. We will dismiss Friday at noon. We have
several end-of-the-year assessments this week, and I will try to get a lot of
them completed on Monday. We have our STAR Reading Assessment and the STAR
Math Assessment which I hope to complete Monday. We also have our nine weeks
fluency assessment, but I will probably have to work on those throughout the
week. That assessment must be administered one-on-one, so it will take
awhile.

This is the last week before Christmas break, and it is going to fly by
I am sure. Here are some dates to remember:

December 15-----------------------Field trip to Montgomery Museum
                                       of Fine Arts
     December 16-----------------------Christmas Program/Caroling in the
                                                 Classroom 2:00-2:45
December 17-----------------------Polar Express Fun in the Classroom
We are going to wear our pajamas and read a good part of the
day. We will decorate Christmas cookies and then enjoy them
with hot cocoa as we watch The Polar Express. We will have
our Polar Express Day in lieu of a party because the children
really love laying around and reading and then enjoying the
                movie with their classmates.
December 18-----------------------Last day before Christmas Break
(early release/we will release at noon)
If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to call or
email, and I will reply as soon as possible. Thank you so much for all the
support at home.
Have a very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year,
     Mrs. Shoupe
