Miss Johnson’s News of the Week
January 5th-8th
Math: For the next two weeks we are going to learn about Money. Please look
over all sheets that go home daily. Our timed subtraction test will be on
Friday.
Reading: This week we are reading “The Quilt Story.” Please practice our new
spelling words. The last three spelling words are “challenge words.” Our
story test will be on Thursday and our spelling test will be on Friday. (I
have put a spelling list for the 3rd and 4th nine weeks in your child’s
folder.)
Targeted Skills: This week our objective is to blend, read, and build words
with syllables: consonant + le. We will also talk about “Compare and
Contrast.”
Grammar: This week we will learn about adjectives.
Academic Vocabulary: We have 10 news words for the 3rd nine weeks. (noun,
verb, pronoun, adjective, reread, margin, theater, conversation, main
character, and table of contents.) This week we are going to focus on
adjective.
*Important Information*
-Remember to turn in money for our water safety course that the YMCA does for
us. The cost is $10 and that includes a t-shirt! If anyone needs another
permission slip please send in a note and I will get you one.
