How will my student purcahse lunch?

Each student will be given a lunch account with a corresponding
lunch number. You can add money to your child's lunch account by
sending in cash or check. Many parents have found that it is
easier to send in lunch money for a month rather than sending it
in on a daiy basis. A lunch menu is generally sent home at the
start of each month to help you plan.

Can I check my child's lunch account balance on the internet?

Yes. You can access your child's lunch account by going to the
Huntsville City School's website at http://www.hsv.k12.al.us and
clicking on the "Parent" tab at the top of the page. On the
parent link you will find an icon for Meal Pay Plus. Further
directions are provided on the Meal Pay Plus website.

How can I become a classroom helper?

Classroom helpers are greatly appreciated. You can become a
classroom helper in a variety of ways. Helpers are always needed
for special events (i.e. fieldtrips, Polar Express Day, Fairytale
Ball, etc...). I will send home requests for these events as they
occur.
You can also sign up to volunteer on a weekly basis. Helpers are
needed for projects, to read with students, etc... Please contact
me to sign up for a day and time.
If you wish to volunteer but are unable to come into class there
are ways that you can help from home. I can always use parents to
seperate workbooks, cut lamination,etc... If you would like to
help at home please contact me.
All help is greatly appreciated. I ask that parents who wish to
come in wait until after the first full month of school, so that
we may have time to establish class routines.

What skills should I be working on at home with my student?

The skills that should be worked on at home vary throughout the
year. The skills we are working on in class are listed in the
weekly newsletter sent home on Monday. You can also find ideas
about skills to practice on the "Skills" page on this website. I
will also be posting practice sheets you can download and print
for extra practice.
