GED - The General Equivalency Development test comprises five content area assessments:
Language Arts; Writing; Mathematics; Science; Social Studies
Faulkner State Community College's Adult Education department can help you prepare and register for the test. Call them at: 1-800-231-3752 toll free or 580-2116 or 580-2105. The classes are free. If you pass the practice tests with at least 500, you can qualify for a fee waiver to take the test at no cost - free!!! The test cost $50 and $10 per test if you have taken and passed some of the subtests. Call FSCC for the location of the classes closest to you. The director of Adult Education @ FSCC is Dr. Ken Adams. Their website has not been updated as of 11.15.10 so call for info.
All community colleges in Alabama accept the GED in place of a high school diploma for admission. Four-year colleges and universities will accept the GED with an acceptable ACT score. More info on taking the GED in Alabama can be found at: http://www.accs.cc/timecost.aspx
