The O.R.E.O. Project
Our class completed the super-fun O.R.E.O. project as a hands-on way to
explore the concept of averages. We estimated, predicted, stacked,
counted, and compared our cookies one afternoon in the science lab.
Then we entered our class data into the computer to be compared and
averaged with other classes around the country.
Special Thanks to Jennifer Wagner, the creator of jenuinetech.com
for this wonderful project!

Presenting: The Oreo Song!

How The Project Worked

Students rotated through five Oreo Stations in the science lab.
Thanks to Riley Northway, Kim Glass, and Carrie Parsons for
staffing the stations!!
We NEVER could have done this without you!
Also, a big THANK YOU to
all our parents and grandparents who donated cookies!

1. Oreo Stackin'

Each student had two tries to get their best stack.
.

Students had a partner who counted while they stacked.

Once they lifted their hand, they could not adjust
the cookie again!!

 Pleeeeaaasssee don't fall!!

When any of the cookies tumbled, that turn was over and
 results were recorded.

2.  Oreo Art

Students made cookie covers for poems
they had written.

The folks at Nabisco would love these designs!

3. Oreo Snackin'

Students enjoyed cookies with... MILK at the snackin' station.

The Oreo Straws were a big hit!

This kid should live on a Dairy Farm!
He LOVES milk!

4. Oreo Taste Testing

Students had fun trying some different
varieties of Oreos. We conducted a taste test using
Vanilla, Mint, Peanut Butter, and Regular flavors. Then we
graphed our results.

5.  Oreo Sculptures

Students used left-over cookies
to make Oreo Sculptures!

The Results Are In!
