What can I do when I come to a word I don't know?

I can:

look at the picture

put my finger under the word

look at the first letter

get my mouth ready for the first sound

think what will make sense in the story

look at the ending of the word

look for "chunks" or parts I know

go back and reread

try it

ask myself if it looks right

try it again

skip, then go back
