Writing

Children go through various stages when they are beginning to write. We spend a lot of time in our classroom learning to write and just simply writing! This is one of my favorite things to do!! I have enclosed a couple of links to some explanations and pictures of the different writing stages that children may go through. I hope this gives you a better understanding of the kindergarten writing process! :)

Here are the different ways that we can practice our writing in Kindergarten.

1.Shared Writing: The teacher writes while the kids help to compose the writing. Examples-Morning message, charts

2.Interactive Writing: The teacher and the students both share the pen when writing. Examples-Morning message, predictable charts

3.Guided Writing: The teacher works with individuals or small groups and helps them directly with their writing. Examples-Individual conferencing or small group time

4.Independent Writing: The students write on their own. Examples-Journals, writing centers

Writing by myself Days

Every month I let the students write whatever they want to, but they have to do it by themself with no help from me! This goes into their portfolio as a way of showing their progress. Here are the monthly sheets!
