My name is Cindy Miller, and I am the wife of MSgt. Morris “Al” Miller, First Sergeant for the Comm
Squadron on Andersen AFB. I have two beautiful daughters Loni, 14 and Lexi, 17. Our "furbabies"
are Romeo, an English Springer Spaniel, Jake, a boonie Jack Russell mix, and Kinicky, a boonie kitten.
My family has been here in Guam since February of 2007. Our previous base was RAF Lakenheath,
England and we were also stationed in at Cannon AFB, New Mexico and lived in Las Vegas, Nevada.
I grew up near Patrick AFB- in Merritt Island, Florida and graduated from the University of Central
Florida in 1988 with a degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education with a minor in
Psychology. This is my sixteenth year teaching in the primary grades. I have taught Kindergarten,
First Grade, Second Grade, Third Grade, Multi-Age, and as a Specialist for Guided Reading/Writing
Support (pull-out) for Grades K-5. I taught in Florida, New Mexico, and most recently with DoDDs in
England. I particularly enjoy Guided Reading and Literacy Centers and have presented at three
elementary schools' faculty inservice days and at the University of Guam on how Guided Reading
and Literacy Centers can be implemented in a K-3 classroom. I have had nine student teachers from
five universities, and welcome visitations from those entering this wonderful profession.
During my personal and family time I enjoy snorkling, BBQs, digital scrapbooking, and most of all
travelling. Everyone in my family has just gotten SCUBA certified, so that's a new hobby of ours, too.
We visited many places while stationed in Europe and I hope to see Australia and/or New Zealand
while we are stationed on the beautiful island of Guam!
