What are the rules?
Students will:
1. Follow directions.
2. Be in your assigned seat when the tardy bell rings with all materials,
including paper, pencil, book, and completed assignments.
3. Follow the anti-bullying policy. (Outlined in the Kimmons student
handbook.)
4. Be appropriate.
What are the consequences?
Students are given:
1. Verbal warning.
2. Writing form in the classroom and parent contacted.
3. In-room detention at lunch and parent contacted.
4. Office referral.
Is there an Incentive Plan?
Yes, at the beginning of each quarter, students will be assigned fifty bonus
points. If a classroom infraction occurs, five to ten points will be
deducted from that student's bonus point total. Points depend on
seriousness of the infraction. At the end of each grading period, students
will have bonus points averaged into their grade for the class.
How is make-up work handled?
Absences and make-up work for this class follows the policy outlined in the
Kimmons Junior High Student Handbook.
What is the homework policy?
When homework is assigned, it is expected to be completed and turned in at
the beginning of class the next day, unless otherwise specified. Missed
homework due to absence should be made up on the students' time. Any
assignment may be turned in a maximum of one week late for half credit.
After that time, the grade will be recorded as a zero.
Will reading outside of class be expected?
Yes, students will be expected and encouraged to read outside of the
classroom.
What is the grading system used?
A point system will be used for grading in this class. There will be many
opportunities for each student to earn the grade they want. Every point
counts, so it is important that students attempt each assignment. Some
points are always better than none at all.
