Daily Oral Language – Lesson 5

a)     Objective: Students will correctly use conventions in writing

b)     Method

o       Students will find the errors in the sentence.

o       Students will rewrite the sentence correctly

o       Paragraph is due next Tuesday.

Every Day Words – Review 10-12

Objective:

·        To use Latin roots to understand the meaning of words

·        To use a resource (dictionary) to find meanings of words

Method:

·        Complete section III of practice activities.

·        Homework: write 40 terms and definitions

·        Test: Friday

     Persuasive Text and Writing

a)     Objective: To use logical reasons and emotional appeals in persuasive text

b)     Method:

§         Debate students will demonstrate a modified debate.

§         Students may ask questions about the debate of the students

§         Talk about the group requirements: typed, detailed outline, survey and interview results, and the works cited page.

 

TUESDAY –

Persuasive Text and Writing

a)     Objective: Students will write a persuasive essay sample demonstrating techniques of persuasive writing.

b)     Method:

·        Pass out writing sample with outline

·        Students will complete an outline of ideas.

§         Homework: (due Thursday, December 4, 2008

·        Editors – type up both outlines and make three copies

·        Bibliographer – type up Works Cite page and print one copy

·        Survey/Interview writers type up results of primary sources and make three copies
