Policies

 A.J.H.S Rules and Expectations For Physical Education Classes.
					
I. Tardy Policy:
A) Students tardy to class will be sent to sweep according to AJHS handbook.
B) You must be in the assigned area by the last bell or you will be sent to 
Sweep.
C) Students sent to Sweep will be counted as a non-participation/non-dress.

II.Class Procedures:
A) You will have 5 minutes after the last bell to change out and report to 
your proper   meeting area. 
  Boys west locker room - Acosta & Brennan 
  Boys east locker room-   Milligan & Reed   
  Girls locker room-          Kearsley & Swift.
B) You MUST wear PE clothes everyday.  Solid Black Shorts and GRAY t-shirts 
will be worn. You may purchase a “PE Spirt Pack”   from the AJHS book store.
C)  Students must change into their PE clothes.  Not wearing the proper PE 
uniform will result the student being sent to sweep.
D)Proper dress includes shorts, shirts, and gym shoes. * Note: Shoes are 
required by state law. Do not wear sandals, boots, or hard sole shoes to 
class.
E) Sweats will only be allowed for outside use. 

III.DITCHING:
A) The instructor releases you from class, not the bell.  Students are to 
remain in the PE locker room  until released by the instructor.  Leaving 
class early will result in a referral for ditching. 
B) Going outside the N. Gym building for any reason such as Vending Machines, 
Drinks or Cell phone use, will be considered ditching and a referral will be 
issued.  

IV.CELL PHONES
A) Cell phone use is not allowed in any class at AJHS according to the 
handbook.  
B) If you are caught with your cell phone during PE class, the phone will be 
confiscated and sent to the office with a referral. 

V. MEDICAL EXCUSES:
A) All medical excuses and notes from home must be presented to the nurse 
BEFORE  school.  
B) Excuse slips from home will only be excepted on a daily basis. Parents are 
not allowed         to excuse the students for multiple days. A excuse from 
a  medical physician will need to be turned into the school nurse for more 
than one day.
C) Upon return from an illness or an injury that was prolonged or required 
doctor's care, the student must have written release presented to the nurse 
and the instructor before they are allowed to participate.
 



VI. LOCKERS AND LOCKS:
A) Each student will be issued a PE locker.  Each students will pick one 
other student to be “Locker Buddies”.  DO NOT give out your combination to 
anyone besides your LOCKER BUDDY!    
B) If you forget your combination see your instructor.

VII.VALUABLES:  
A) Large amounts of Money, I-Pods, Cell Phones, and Video Games are your 
responsibility! 
B) The best way  to protect your valuables is not to bring them to school.  
Never  leave valuables in your locker overnight.
C)If you have something of value that is school related, you may ask your 
instructor to secure it.  However personal electronic devices will not be 
secured by the PE staff.

IX.ABSENCES:
A) Students are expected to make up all absences.  Each Absence not made up 
will result in missing 5pts per day. If you are absent from class you must 
make up the day in order to earn your daily points ( 5pts). You can either 
check in with Weight room coordinator after school and work out for 45 
minutes. Or, complete an article on any type of sports related information. 
See instructor for hand out.   
B) More than 10 absences will result in loss of credit for the course 
according the school handbook.  

X. NON  DRESS- NON-PARTICIPATION POLICY. 
A) Non- Dress= Not dressing in the appropriate uniform required for that 
day's activity will result in a 5% deduction of final grade and students will 
be sent to ICR..
B) Non-Participation: Refusing to participate during the class activity 
including PE literacy activity will result of losing 2.5pts out of 5pts per 
class.
C)There will be “NO FREE NON-DRESS” each non dress will result in a referral 
to ICR and deduction of 5%.

XI. GRADING: 
A) Any students refusing to participate will be considered non-participating.
B) Students will complete written examinations and unit activity policy.
C)Grades are based on:
Dressing out and Class participation
Reading and Writing activities        
D)Grades are earned according to the following percentages:
100%  -  90%	A
 89%   -  80%	B
 79%   -  70%	C
 69%   -  60%    	D
 59%   -   0%	F

XII.INJURY:
A) Students are expected to report an injuries to the teacher at the time of 
the injury.
B) Make-up work is available for students experiencing an injury.
