--------------------------------------
What are we going to dissect?
Most dissections take place during the second semester when we compare the
structural and system differences between animals. This year we will dissect
a worm, a grasshopper, a crayfish, a sea star, and either a rat or a fetal
pig.
--------------------------------------
What if I don't want to dissect?
Actual hands-on participation in dissections is optional. You may chose to
participate in dissections as an observer only, or you may choose to do a
virtual dissection, or an alternate assignment. Regardless of your choice,
you will still be responsible for identifying structures and describing the
systems of dissected specimens, and comparing the structures and systems of
different animals.
--------------------------------------
How often do we have quizzes or tests?
We will have daily quizzes on material covered the day before, and less
frequent major quizzes and tests which will be announced in class.
--------------------------------------
What do I need to do to succeed in Biology?
To succeed in Biology, like most other classes, it is essential to attend
class prepared with the materials in the supply list regularly, pay attention
during class, review the material covered that day in preparation for the
next day's quiz, study for the major quizzes and tests, and complete all other
assignments promptly.
