How is my AR goal determined?
I use a chart from the makers of Accelerated Reader which shows me how many
points a student should be able to earn, based on his grade reading level,
in a nine-week period if he is reading 30 minutes a day. I give my students
10 minutes of reading time every day in class; they get another 15 minutes
during their 3rd period class. Earning the point goal should not be a
problem if the student uses his reading time wisely.

Will you let me go to the library during class time?
At this time, no. Since the English department moved into the new building,
we are too far from the libary to make visits during class AR time. It is
almost impossible for a student to walk to the library, search for and check
out a book, and return to class in the allotted 10 minutes. However, I can
write you a library pass to use during your lunch period or after school.

When are the AR due dates?
1st quarter: October 14
2nd quarter: December 12
3rd quarter: March 16
4th quarter: May 15

What if I'm absent on the AR due date?
If you still need to earn points for that quarter's goal, you will be too
late. Any points earned after the due date will be applied to the next
quarter's goal.
