During the school year, we will study weather, astronomers, stars, Mars,
seasons, minerals, rocks, plate tectonics, volcanoes, and geological
history.
GRADES:
Your grade in this class will be determined by weighting the various
types of work as follows:
Homework/Classwork 20 %
Tests/Quizzes 30 %
Labs 20 %
Projects 10 %
Final Exam 20 %
100%
Grades will be rounded up when the remainder is .5 or above.
There are no retests!
Assignments:
Please follow these guidelines for all work:
1) Use a full sheet of paper (white only)
2) All assignments are due at the beginning of class
*No Late Papers Will Be Accepted*
3) Your full name, class hour, and date should appear in the upper
left hand corner of the paper
*If your work will not be completed on time because of circumstances
beyond your control,please notify me before class.
Extra-curricular activities are not an excuse for late work.
Make up work:
You are responsible for making up any missed work. You have 1 day
for each day missed to make up work. After that time, all missed work will
be recorded as a zero in the grade book. You will have two days to make up a
test or lab. Make up tests and labs will be completed at lunch or after
school within two days of your return to school. If a test or lab is not
made up within two days of your return to school, a zero will be recorded in
the grade book. All homework must be handed into the sweep monitor the hour
you are in sweep. Attendance in sweep on a test day or lab day will result
in a zero grade, so please hurry to class.
Supplies:
1) 3 ring notebook for earth science-
2) 4 dividers for notes, homework, labs, and tests.
3) a green folder provided by A.J.H.S.
4) signed course syllabus in front of your science notebook
5) keep all of your notes in order in the notebook according to the
date given
6) all assignments need to be written in pencil or black or blue pen
7) planner- used daily for homework assignments
8) personal AR reading book
9) basic calculator
10) colored markers, colored pencils, or crayons and highlighter- any
color
General Rules:
Please-
1) No food or drink in the classroom. Only bottled water is permitted.
2) No electronic entertainment devices during class time.
3) Hats are not permitted in the classroom.
4) Lab area is off limits, unless doing a lab. Exit by the front
classroom door only.
5) Computers are off limits unless given permission. Please just asked.
6) Be in your assigned seat by the final bell.
7) Only science work is to be done in science class. You are expected
to work the entire period.
8) Remain in your assigned seat unless assigned to another area.
9) No flying objects.
10) If you are having academic trouble, see me ASAP.
If you choose not to follow a classroom, lab, or school rule, you will face
the following consequences:
