On Monday the 9th of Feb., we will begin the Industrial GIants of the new
20th century. Pages 456-465 Section 1 and the review questions on page 465.
Tuesday the class will choose one INdustrial Giant of the early 1900's and
report on it in class. 1/2 page written, turned in, after presentation in
class. Wednesday the class will begin to study the move west and what factors
lead to the "push and pull" of western immigration. The web diagram at the
top of the page 489 will be completed and turned in after a short lecture and
discussion. Thursday the class will examine the conflict with Ntive America
and how this influenced our immigration westward. Pages 491-497. STudents
will examine the early myths about natives in the west. Class will give their
point of view on who was the villan and who was taken advantage of. Short
writing in class. Short debate. Friday the class will examine Mining,
ranching, and farming, pages 498-506. The web diagram on page 499 will be
completed. Before reading the class will give theri own preconceptions on the
old west. After reading they will explain what they found out. 1 page, handed
in at end of class.
