Tami Ellsworth started coaching volleyball at Blue Ridge in 1995. She has
taken her teams to the state tournament twelve of the thirteen years that
she has coached. Their best performance was in 1997 when they placed third
in the 3A State Volleyball Tournament. Coach Ellsworth was named the 3A
East Coach of the Year in 1997 and 2000.
Mrs. Ellsworth attended Safford High School and had the privelage of playing
there for Norma Bellamy, nationally recognized as one of the top high school
coaches of all time. Tami is a graduate of the University of Arizona. She
is not currently teaching, but devotes all of her time to her four children
and volleyball. Derlene Tortice, a former Blue Ridge player and JV coach,
will be assisting the varsity team again this season. RaeLynn McNeil, a
2007 graduate and four-year varsity player, will also assist this season.
Our JV and Freshman teams are coached by Renee Rogers and Heather
Brosemann. This is Heather's ninth season to coach. She
played her high school volleyball at Show Low (but we still like her
anyway). Renee Rogers has coached volleyball at Snowflake High School and
Junior High, as well as for the Stixz Volleyball Club and Mountain Crush
Volleyball Club. She has been officiating volleyball for the past few
years. This will be her second year as the jv coach.
It is our goal that each girl who is a part of this program will:
