Where does my child go before school?
Monday: Students will line up outside my classroom door (118) and
wait for the door to open at 9:00.
Friday: Students will line up in the Cafeteria and I will pick
them up at 8:30. I will walk them back to the classroom.
Where do I pick up my child afterschool?
Your child will be dismissed outside our classroom door (room
118). We will do our best to have the students ready to leave a
few minutes early so they'll be ready for you to pick them up on
time. A parent may either drive through the pick up lane and
we'll be watching for your car or park your car and come to the
classroom to pick up your child.
What supplies does my child need to bring to school?
A backpack is very useful to help your child carry items to and
from school.
We do have a water cooler in our classroom, but suggest bringing
individual water bottles so they have a lid. I also suggest
sending a small snack with your child. Our day is long and the
1st graders do get hungry. Our classroom could always use baby
wipes, hand sanitizer and small drinking cups. Occasionally we
may ask for donations when we have parties or special
activities. I'll send a note home when the time comes for those
items.
When is lunchtime?
Our lunch is from 11:30-12:00. Students may buy lunch for $1.75
or bring a lunch from home. Juice costs 50 cents. If your child
will buy lunch, the easiest way is to purchase a lunch card. You
may buy one in the cafeteria before school begins. This helps us
move through the lunch line quickly.
After your child finishes eating, they will go outside to the
fenced playground behind the school. There will be playground
aides supervising them during this time. Students must wear shoes
with straps around the ankle- sorry, no flip flops at recess.
This is a safety rule at Eagleridge.
Can my child bring a snack to school?
Yes, Our days our long and the children do get hungry. At the
beginning of the year, I do give out group snacks. As the year
progresses, I encourage each student to bring an individual
healthy snack to eat while working.
May I help out in the classroom?
Of course! I would love to have parent volunteers after the
first few weeks of school. These weeks allow time to establish
routines, discuss positive behavior, and get to know one
another. Be sure to let me know if you are interested in
volunteering.
What 'specials' will my child have in 1st grade?
"Specials" are Music, Library, P.E. and Computers. They
will have a different teacher for Music Library and P.E. and I
will be their computer teacher.
Should I send a water bottle with my child?
Yes, and it's important to drink water throughout the day. We do
have a water cooler in our room, but cups only when they are
donated. Also, cups tend to spill at the desks - So please bring
in a water bottle already filled for the day. They can be refill
when needed.
Can I bring treats to celebrate my child's birthday?
Yes. Please make prior arrangements with me regarding the date
and a convenient time. I usually try to celebrate birthdays
towards the end of the day.
Who do I tell if my child has allergies or special concerns?
I ask for each family to fill out a Student Information Card when
your child is enrolled. There is a place on the card to list any
medical concerns, allergies, or comments that I should know about
concerning your child. I do send home a newsletter at the
beginning of each month. Please email or contact me with any
concerns the may affect your child with our months activities.
