Where does my child go in the morning before class?
Parents may drop students off no more than 15 minutes before
class starts.
Parents may park in the north lot and walk students to class
(students are not permitted to walk across the parking lot
unattended by an adult).
Wednesday & Friday students may be dropped off in the valet drive-through and
allow students to walk to the A-playground (an aide is on duty at 8:15).
Students will line up behind the blue wall labeled 2nd when the bell rings.
I will pick them up and walk the class to our classroom.
Monday and T/Th students will line up by our door when the bell rings at 9:00.
Parents will need to stay with their children. No aide is outside before school
so parents will need to watch their children if they are playing on the playground
before class begins.
Where do I pick up my child at the end of the day?
Monday, Wednesday and Friday students will be picked up at playground A
at 3:30. Second graders will be in line behind the blue wall where I will
dismiss them to their parents. For safety reasons I will need to have students say
good-bye to me before leaving. The remaining students will be walked to the valet
pick up where parents will drive through to pick up their child
Maps are available in the office.
T/Th students will be walked to the pick up area off of Medina Ave. Parents who
want to park in the North parking lot and pick up students at our
classroom will need to arrive before 2:25 where I will dismiss your child
to you as we are walking the rest of the class to the Medina pick up area.
Students must be picked up 15 minutes after schools ends. After
that time, students will be walked to the office and you will need
to pick them up there. Please contact the office if you are
running late or have a different person picking up your child. We are
only allowed to dismiss your child to the people you on your pick-up
list through the office.
How do I sign up for newsletters?
Both the school newsletter and my classroom newsletter can be
found online. To sign up for my newsletter go to NewsFlash on the
menu bar and click. Next go to where it says Subscribe to this
NewsFlash and click. Fill in needed information - name and email
address (can be sent to your computer or a mobile device). That's
it! Once a newsletter has been posted on my teacher web page
you will be notified by email.
To sign up for the school's newsletter, go to Mrs. Tolar's
teacherweb page and then follow the same procedures.
What supplies does my child need?
A backpack is very useful to help your child carry items home.
Please put their name on it. Our classroom could always use baby
wipes, soft tissues, sandwich or snack-size baggies and hand
sanitizer.
When is lunch time?
Lunch time is at 11:15 - 11:55. After your child gets done
eating then they will go out to the A-playground. There will be
playground aides supervising them during this time. If your
child is buying lunch at school it would be very helpful to put
lunch money on an account through mylunchmoney.com use Alma
account to deposit online. Lunch menu is available at the
district's website at http://www.mpsaz.org/food/
Is there a snack time?
Second grade does not have a scheduled snack time. If there is a
medical reason where a snack is needed then please let me know
and we can make arrangements for your child.
Can I help out in the classroom?
Sure, parent volunteers are welcomed in the classroom after the
first few weeks of school. These weeks allow time to establish
routines, expected behaviors, and a daily routine. Be sure to let
me know if you are interested in volunteering. As a school policy younger
siblings are not allowed to come with you while you are helping in the
classroom. Volunteers must sign in at the office before coming to the classroom.
Also volunteers may only use the adult bathrooms located in the multi-purpose room.
Can I bring in treats to celebrate my child's birthday?
Yes. Please make prior arrangements with me regarding the date
and the time. I like to celebrate birthdays towards the end of
the day. You may send in the treats with your child before school
or come at the scheduled time and help your child pass them out
(check in the office).
The Mesa District does require that treats are be store bought.
How do I send in lunch money?
The easiest way is to set up a lunch account through the
cafeteria or online. This is helpful because you don't have to
worry about lunch money each class time. School lunches cost $1.75
which includes a milk. Milk can be purchased separately for 50 cents.
What 'specials' will my child have in 2nd grade?
"Specials" are Music, P.E. and Computers. They will have a
different teacher for Music and P.E. and I will be their computer
teacher.
Monday, Wednesday and Friday students will be having P.E., Music and
computers on each class day. Tennis shoes are required for P.E.
T/TH students will be having our "specials" on a 3 day
rotation. A schedule will be sent home. It is required
to wear tennis shoes on P.E. days!
Do students have a recess?
Yes, we will have recess after lunch. Talk to your child about
taking their time eating lunch and not rushing so they can go out
to recess. There is plenty of time for eating and playing!
Should I send in a water bottle for my child?
Yes, and it's important to drink water throughout the day. We do
have a drinking fountain in our room, but it takes a lot of time
waiting in line to get a drink. Putting a sock around the bottle
helps absorb the condensation. Please put their name on the water
container.
What do I need to do when visiting Eagleridge?
Parents are always welcomed at Eagleridge at any time, but must
stop in the office and pick up a visitor badge. The only time you
will not is a badge is when you are just dropping off a student
before school or picking up a student after school. Please note
that parents may only use the adult bathrooms in the multi-
purpose room.
What are the bathroom procedures?
There are no bathrooms in the classrooms. Bathrooms will be
locked during the day since it is an open campus. There will be
scheduled times for students to use the bathroom. For
emergencies students will be sent in pairs to the nurses office.
This is different from what the students are use to so please go
over the importance of what is a bathroom emergency and using
bathrooms before school, at the scheduled times, during lunch and
recess. We don't want to use our day on unnecessary bathroom breaks.
What do I do if I bring my child late to school or if my child is absent?
If you bring your child late to school, you will need to go to
the office and sign your child in as tardy. Students will need to
bring their tardy slip with them to the classroom.
Please do your best to be on time each day. It does disrupt our morning
when we have students coming in after the bell has rung.
If your child is absent, please notify the school that day and
report the absence.
