The following skills should be worked on at home on a DAILY ONGOING basis
throughout the school year in addition to other assigned homework activities:
Handwriting
Letter (upper & lower case).
Name (first & last names usually initial capitilization ie: Jane Doe).
Pencil Grip
Three-finger tripod grip.
Counting to 100
By 1s.
By 5s.
By 10s.
Letter Recognition
Recognizing letters (upper & lower case) by name and sound. Please
note, this is best practiced out of alphabetical sequence in order to
promote fluent and immediate recall.
Number Recognition
Recognizing by sight written numerals 1 - 31.
Number Representation
Given a numeral the student is able to represent the corresponding
quantity using manipulative (beans, counters, blocks, etc.) the numeral.
