Why do I need to write in pencil?

Pencil is designed to be easily erased. My expectations is that we make
mistakes. When mistakes are made we can easily erase and start over. The goal
is to learn from our mistakes!

Pen is reserved for grading.

What do I do if I notice that I didn't get credit for work I did?

See the me anytime and show the work to me. Together we can assess the
situation. I may have missed entering the credit into my grade book.If you
keep all the homework, tests, and quizzes in your binder until the end of the
term, you will have the work to show me if there is a discrepancy in your
grade. I only give credit if you can show me the paper in question.

Why do we need to write summaries and explanations in mathematics?

By organizing your thoughts into a quality piece of writing, you will deepen
your understanding of broad concepts in math. With practice, writing becomes
easier. This skill is a very important study skill that is valuable in all
subject areas. For example, if you are having trouble remembering a concept
in math or science, try writing out definitions of key vocabulary words in
your own words. Effort in this manner will help you to think deeply about the
concepts.
