7th and 8th Grade Common Procedures
Expectations
Students:
1.
Follow the “Six Pillars of Character”
on a daily basis: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and
Citizenship
2.
Come to class prepared to participate and
learn
3.
Do not interfere with their learning or the
learning of others.
4.
Be in class on time.
Parents:
1.
Be aware of the student code of
conduct and school procedures
2.
Review and sign the student’s planner
each week.
3.
Review weekly progress note and sign
if necessary.
Teachers:
1.
Print and distribute weekly progress
reports for students.
2.
Contact parents with feedback student
progress as appropriate.
Student Planner/Passes/ID
Students must have their student
planner in their possession and school ID displayed at all times. Student planners will serve as a
communication conduit to inform parents of their child’s progress and
behavior. Students must be in possession of a signed planner or a classroom/teacher pass when
outside of the classroom during a class period. If a student needs to enter a
classroom before school, or after school, they must have their planner signed
by the teacher. Students must sign in
and out of class when using the restroom. Replacement
planners may be purchased in the office for $5.00 and replacement ID badges
purchased for $3.00.Planners and ID badges may NOT be defaced or altered in any
way or a new one will be required to be purchased at the student’s expense.
Discipline Matrix
Step
One: Teacher gives a verbal warning;
Step Two: Flip Character Card and
student documents behavior on Card under appropriate Pillar; Step Three: Student may be sent out of room to write a
reflection; Step Four: Phone call to
parent/guardian; Step Five: Referral to
office. Depending on the severity of the student’s action, steps may be skipped
if appropriate.
Assignment Heading Format
Students will use
an assignment heading in the upper right hand corner of lined notebook
paper. The heading will include first
and last name, identified assignment, class period and the date.
Snacks
Students will be allowed to bring individual, healthy snacks
to school to eat during the Academic Lab and/or Guided study periods when
permitted by the teacher. Students are
NOT required to supply or share snacks with others in the class. Healthy snacks do NOT include chips or candy.
Make-up Work Policy
Students will be allowed one day
to make-up work, for each day of an excused absence. Please remember it is a student’s
responsibility to make up work that he or she has missed in class. Students will not be eligible for reward
trips or extracurricular activities if they have missing work. All
assignments are expected to be completed and turned in.
