This page will answer questions commonly asked by students and parents.
- Are Parents Welcome in the Classroom?
- How will we know what information gets sent back to school and what gets kept at home?
- Will there be opportunities for book orders?
- Does the blue "star chart" get signed and returned even if there isn't anything visibly marked for that day?
Are Parents Welcome in the Classroom?
Yes! Absolutely! Parents are always welcome in the classroom,
and I will be
looking for parent volunteers to come in during literacy centers
to help with
projects throughout the course of the year. If you are
interested in
volunteering, please let me know at your convenience and we can
schedule times
that will work for you.
How will we know what information gets sent back to school and what gets kept at home?
I have a homework folder that will be sent home with your child
daily. One
side of the folder has a label that says, "Return to School" and
the other
side says, "Keep at home." Please review the contents of the
folder with your
child nightly. Thank you!
Will there be opportunities for book orders?
Yes! Building your library at home is a wonderful way to
encourage reading
for your child and your family. I will be sending home
scholastic book orders
periodically throughout the school year. If you would like to
order books,
please fill out the order form, and make a check out to
Scholastic (no cash
please) and I will submit your orders. You can also submit
orders online
through scholastic. The link for online ordering is on
the "links" section of this website.
Does the blue "star chart" get signed and returned even if there isn't anything visibly marked for that day?
Yes. If the star chart is not "marked" or written on by me on a
particular day, all that indicates is that your child kept both
of his/her two stars for that day. He/she can earn a star
for "super star" behavior, or he/she can lose 1-2 stars for not
demonstrating expected behavior. If he/she simply remains
on "green" or keeps both stars for the day, I may not mark or
write anything specific on the star chart, but the expectation is
that you still initial it for each day. Star charts do get
returned at the end of each week and should be signed for each
day the child has been in school that same week.
