Daily Reading Bags
Each student will receive a book at his or her reading level to bring home
and read Monday thru Thursday. Please ensure that you set aside 15 minutes
each night for your child to complete their reading homework. If your child
comes across a tricky word please refraine from telling them or saying "sound
it out." We will work hard in class to ensure each child has a variety of
strategies to help them decode these tricky words. Please remind your child
to use one of their tools. In order to make reading meaningful it would
strengthen your childs reading ability if they warmed up their mind before
reading, stayed focused on the story during reading, and talked about the
story after reading.
Homework Menu
Each month we will send home a menu of homework activities.
These activities review the concepts we have learned the previous month
- Your child is responsible for completing 10 of these activities.
- Please initial next to each activity you complete.
- Please do not star the box you should initial the box.
- Please sign the bottom of the calendar before returning it to school.
- The homework will be due on the last school day of each month.
Our goal with this menu is to makes homework fun, meaningful and easy!
Guess what for those of you that always want more homework you got it! Just
complete extra activities on the menu.
As a second grade team we work hard on this menu to ensure it accomodates all
of our learners.
