This program is FREE for all Madison Heights students. You can access it from
any computer with an internet connection. So, you could work 2 lessons at
home, then continue the third one at Grandma's house, using her computer.
Interested? Please RSVP to Mr. Enright with your child's full name and
homeroom teacher, so I can have an account set up ahead of time.

Author, Joe Hayes, was an inspiration. He told stories with themes of family
love, perseverance and responsibility. In between stories, he spoke of his
writing process...where he gets ideas, how he changes them, how he chooses
just the right word. Throughout the day, Joe sprinkled his stories with
Spanish-speaking characters and dialogue. We know his visit will make an
impact on our students' writing.

Mr. Enright as well as classroom volunteers are busy testing and retesting
kids individually on their numbers and vocabulary words. Parents will receive
a separate, smaller grade sheet for Spanish. 4th graders who are not happy
with their Venn diagram work can resubmit the work until Oct. 7th for a second
chance.

Last year, our student activity fees covered homeroom field trips, playground
coaches, assemblies, and the some very popular Spanish programs.
Author/storyteller Joe Hayes came from New Mexico to teach students about the
craft of writing and love of bilingualism. Flamenco artists thrilled the 3rd
graders with live music and dance.
We're currently working on this year's lineup of artists and guest speakers.
Watch the announcements page for updates.

All learners practice conversational Spanish in class several times per week.
3rd and 4th graders also practice reading and writing in Spanish. 2nd grade
will start reading in the spring.
Cultural lessons from various Spanish-speaking countries are included.
Interested in Rosetta Stone (software to work on Spanish from home?) Contact
your homeroom teacher or Mr. Enright. I'll need your child's full name and
homeroom teacher.
Madison Heights has Rosetta Stone accounts available for students. You'll need
a computer with internet access and a headset with microphone.
