Music touches every human being from infancy to adulthood. Not only can it be a vehicle for expression and move us emotionally, but music also activates our intellect. Music actually makes us smarter! It is widely believed that all humans come into the world with an innate ability for music. In some, this ability is obvious. In others, it just needs a little coaxing. Our job in the music classroom is to discover, explore, and refine this ability that is in all of us. Through movement, singing, listening, writing, games and the use of instruments, success can be achieved by all who wish to try.
Not only do the students at Heights need to “know” about music, but they need also to be able to “do” music. This is what makes the study of music so very challenging and worthwhile. I welcome the opportunity to enter into this journey with each student every year.
Musically yours,
Mrs. Bradshaw
