I was born in Salem, Oregon. My family moved to Arizona when I was 3 and we
have lived here since. I have lived in many parts of this great state
during the next 42 years. After high school I went on a short term mission
trip to Holland and Africa. This is where I decided I wanted to become a
teacher. I really enjoyed working with the children. I came home and went
to college at ASU west campus.
I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education with an
English as a Second Language endorsement. After graduating I started
working in and English as a Second Language class. I was immediately asked
to teach a first grade class.
I have been teaching first grade for 13 years. I taught for 10
years in the Osborn district and this is my third year in the Madison School
District.
I love first grade because the children love school and want to learn. They
are so excited to read, write, do math and become scientists.
I am married and have 3 children of my own. My oldest is Andrew and
he is in 7th grade. My middle child, Connor, is in 5th grade at Arizona
School of the Arts. My youngest is Emily and she is in 2nd grade at Phoenix
Christian Elementary School. I am very busy between my darlings at school
and home.
Heights first graders are life-long learners.
