Announcements

Welcome back!  Can you believe we are already in our third quarter of the year? We  celebrated our 100th Day of school on January 19th!
This quarter we will be learning about our Great Big World. We will be learning about weather, arctic and polar animals, farm, Dr. Seuss, and much, much more. We will be adding and subtracting and solving word problems as well as learning about greater than and less than.
This quarter we are having the students write both their first and last names on all assignments.
We will be performing a play for you about the Three Little Pigs and having an on campus field trip...On the Farm. Look for information soon!
I am so glad to be back teaching your children. I missed them over break.
Our Ticket reward system!

This quarter we are trying something new. We are doing away with our weekly Treasure Box, but replacing it with a ticket program and a classroom store.

This is how it works…

Your child will earn tickets for: staying on Green all day, answering a challenge question, doing something special, taking a challenge quiz, completing their homework and reading log.

However, they can lose the tickets if: they are not following the rules or are misbehaving or wasting time!

We have converted one of our bookshelves into a store, something like Chuck E Cheeses. The students will be able to shop every two weeks. We will post the days in our newsletter. This will give the kids a chance to earn tickets, even if they change their color during the day. If you’d like to donate items to our store, we’d appreciate it. They can be new or gently used items.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Here are some suggestions to have your child be successful in school....

Try to work with your child at home .You can check my Learning Site links as well as  working on these skills....

  • Read to your child regularly, and talk about the stories you read.

• Talk about what you are doing every day when you are out: eating, shopping, walking, playing, or visiting relatives or friends. This will help build your child's vocabulary and communication skills.

• Help your child learn to recognize his/her name in print. Practice writing

their name using uppercase and lowercase letters.

• Let your child use crayons, pencils, and (child friendly!) scissors to get their finger muscles warmed up for Kindergarten!

• Help your child become more independent. From tying their own shoes and buttoning their own pants to using tissues and opening ketchup packets — your child will be more self confident if they can perform these tasks on their own.
