If I lose my book, can I just bring a different one in to replace it?
No. The charge for a lost library book includes processing fees,
barcodes, call number stickers, protective coverings, and
computer records that come through our book company. Payment may
be made in cash or by check made out to “PEC Library”.
What happens if I pay for a book, but then later I find it?
At this point, you may choose to simply keep the book, or if it
is still in good condition, you may return the book and request a
refund.
May I check out books or use a computer after school?
Students may check out books after school. For students needing
computers for homework assignments, the library is open after
school until 3:30 daily, unless a staff meeting occurs.
Library computers are available for homework assignments only.
Students doing homework on the computer must sign in at the
circulation desk, providing the name of the teacher and the
homework assignment. Computer activity is monitored remotely by
the librarians and IT staff, and all websites visited are
automatically recorded by the computer system to assure that
students are safe and on task.
Can my child wait in the library to be picked up after school?
No. The library is available after school for homework, class
assignments, and book checkouts. If you need after school care
for your child, you can pick up an Enrichment packet from the
Enrichment office located in the cafeteria. Enrollment is on a
first come first serve basis and space may be limited. If you
have any questions about the Enrichment program, please call
Amanda DeAngelis or Betty Ogden at 623-546-7276.
What are library grades based on?
Library grades are based on participation in class lessons,
performance on assessments, responsibility (such as taking care
of materials and returning books each library time), and on
behavior during class lessons and checkout time.
