LATE BOOKS:
It is very important that your child brings their book back to school on
their library day. Please see p. 11 of the student handbook and the Library
FAQ page on this website.

WHAT WE ARE LEARNING THIS MONTH:
In Library, Kindergarteners have been learning to use a shelf marker, predict
what a story will be about based on the cover picture, identify the parts of
library book (spine, covers, title, title page, barcode), how to take care of
a book (turn pages slowly, keep food and drink away from books), what an
author and illustrator does, the difference between fiction and non-fiction
books, and how to check out a book by scanning the barcode. Library skills
can be reinforced when reading at home by telling your child who the author
and illustrator are and helping them predict the story based on the cover
picture.

This month, we have been enjoying books by Mark Teague and Miss Smith's
Incredible Storybook.
