Welcome to 7th grade math. My name is Jay Lovely and am entering my 6th year
at Paradise Education Center. This will be my 18th year in teaching. I taught
my first 8 years in Sierra Vista, Arizona. There, I was a sixth grade teacher
for 4 years and a 7th grade math and social studies teacher. I also coached
Football, basketball, and baseball.
When I moved to Phoenix, I taught in Glendale Elementary School District for
three years, where I was a 5th grade teacher, 7th/8th grade math teacher, and
a math instructional coach. I then taught 4th grade in Dysart Unified School
District for one year, and I have been teaching 7th grade math, here at PEC,
ever since.
I graduated from the University of Arizona in 1994 with a Bachelor's Degree
in Elementary Education. I then graduated from Northern Arizona University
with a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership.
My wife is also in education. She is a 5th grade teacher at Paradise
Education Center. I have two children, one in 6th grade at PEC and the other
in 11th grade.
I want my students to become lifelong learners without a fear of math. I want
my students to see why math is important for everyday life.
