Dear Families,
Welcome to the K-4 learning lab. I’m excited about the opportunity to get to
know you, and looking forward to a happy and productive school year.
I would like to take a moment to tell you a little about myself. This is my
8th year teaching at PEC. I have been working within the special education
department for the last 6 years. I graduated from Northern Arizona
University in 2000 with a degree in elementary and special education. In May
of 2008, I graduated from Grand Canyon University with a Master’s degree in
special education. I believe that children should come first and that each
one is capable of learning new and exciting things.
During the school year, your child may also work with the instructional aids
that work within the K-4 learning lab. Mrs. Danzey and Mrs. Grandinetti will
be working within the general education classrooms and pulling small groups
when needed. Mrs. Danzey has been working with the special education team
for the last four years. Mrs. Grandinetti is new to our department this
year, but has been working at PEC for the last 6 years. Both of these ladies
are caring and will do what is best for your child during their time together.
Within the classroom, I try to make a relaxing atmosphere for your child. We
all know it is easier to learn when you are not frustrated or anxious about
something. During your child’s time with me, we will be working on reading,
writing and/or math within the learning lab setting. Occasionally, I will
pull your child out of class for additional help on classroom curriculum as
needed. I do expect all students to attempt the classroom work when they are
there. This will allow them to gain exposure to the general education
curriculum and feel part of the classroom community.
Within the learning lab, I have a no homework policy. I do not send any
additional work home other than reading for 15 minutes each night. Homework
is sent from the general education teachers. Please have your child attempt
to do this work, but please only work for 30 minutes. We don’t want them too
frustrated.
If you have any questions or concerns or if you would like to visit our
classroom, or schedule a conference, you can contact me at 623-546-7245 or
email me at kimberly.eberlein@pec-eagles.com. If I am unavailable, I will get
back to you within 24 hours.
Once again, welcome to K-4 learning lab. Let’s work together to make this
the best year ever!
Sincerely,
Kim Eberlein M.Ed.
