*Orton-Gillingham method of reading instruction
 The Learning Lab is continuing to use multi-sensory strategies through the Orton-Gillingham method (Institute of Multi-Sensory Education) to strengthen reading skills and provide continuous opportunities for success in reading.


*Raz-Kids interactive e-books

Everyone has a Raz-Kids account that gives students access to online leveled books that they can listen to for modeled fluency (all books are animated!), read for practice, and check for comprehension with quizzes. Teacher assigns their level and checks books read and quizzes taken to foster growth.  The students can earn stars for stories and quizzes to buy "space-tastic" objects to fill up their Raz-Rocket room!

This step-by-step approach is built around a simple graphic organizer that first shows students how to collect ideas and then helps them use those ideas to create clear and polished prose.  It can be easily modified for each of our students' individual needs.
