Welcome back from Winter Break, students and parents!
During third quarter, our 5th and 6th grade students will be exploring and
expanding their note-reading, rhythm performance, and recorder skills. Be
sure to find your recorder and start having fun!
A new group will be starting Music Appreciation I, a class which will help
them to continue advancing toward meeting their musicianship and theoretical
objectives. An exciting new addition to this class is a keyboard lab, which
will enable our students to take their performance and song-writing
capabilities to the next level.
Another new class is Discovery Chorus, a bridge between general music and
audition vocal ensembles. This semester-long class is open to all 7th and
8th grade students as an elective. These students will be getting ready to
perform their repertoire at the Spring Concert assemblies.
Our honors choir, Challenger Chorus, will be beginning their Spring
repertoire and working on advanced vocal techniques. Our choristers will
also begin fund raising for our Spring performance trips.
In order for our students to be successful, they should be checking their
homework and activity pages every week for updates. Changes can be made at
any time, though, so it's always a good idea to check for any additional
assignments if you've been absent from school or are planning to be.
Remember: Success is where opportunity meets preparedness! :)
