How do I know when my child has PE?

PE class is on a six day schedule so your child will have PE two
times every six days. If your student has PE on day 1, they will
also have PE on day 4, day 2 again on day 5, day 3 PE again on
day 6. In other words PE will be every third day. If your child
had PE on Tuesday count (Weds. Thurs,) they will have PE again on
Friday. If Monday (Tues, Weds)PE again on Thursday. If Weds
(Thurs, Fri) PE again on Monday.

Should my student bring a water bottle?

Yes, especially during the first three months of school, (August,
September, October) and the last three months of school ( April
May and June). Hydration is very important when exercising and
at times class will be far away from the drinking fountains.
Students need to stay in our PE area, so having a waterbottle
handy is of great value. By the way, water is
superior to Gatoraid and other sports drinks, they have too much
sugar and empty calories. Get the energy you need from the foods
you eat, not these so called energy drinks.

What if my student is absent?

They will lose points for participation in PE class. But these
can be made up by exercising for 30 minutes, student choice of
activity, at home. Send a note to school after make-up exercise
is completed and points will be added. Make sure absence points
are made up during the current grading period.

How does my student earn their PE grade?

Every PE class is made up of five components: 1) Dressing
appropriately,(2)Warm-ups,(3)Cardio Blast,(4)Skill learning and
practice,(5)Game play. Each of these components offers the
student the opportunity to earn 1 point each or 5 points total.
Fitness and skills assessments are administered periodically on a
five point scale. The sudent can lose points by choosing not to
particiapate by giving their best effort, using bad sportsmanship
or making bad behavior choices. Also, fitness and skills
assessments will be administered at regular intervals, these are
based on a five step rubric and therefore are worth five points.
