When and where are rehearsals?

Choir is Tuesday from 2:00-3:30 in Pod A of the Auditorium.
Orchestra is Thursday from 2:00-3:30 in SIS Rm. 31.

Choir: Parents should arrive at 3:20 Pod A Auditorium to hear announcements,
student release at 3:30

What music lesson book should we buy for orchestra?

New Directions for Strings Book 1 for your child's, stringed instrument,
Essential Elements for Percussion Book 1 for bells.

How long should my child practice?

10 minutes, twice a day, 5 days a week to start, building up to 20-30 minutes
once a day.

What do the students wear for the concert?

Classic Concert Black and White:  Total white top half; total black bottom 
half; no jeans, sneakers, T-shirts, or high heels (girls); no perfume or 
men's cologne; no short skirts or see-through or mid-drift bearing blouses 
(girls) or logos/prints.

What groups can my child be in?

3rd grade:  Choir only
4th grade:  Choir and orchestra
5th grade:  Choir and orchestra or band

How many rehearsals can my child miss each concert "season" ?

Two excused, with written excuses from the parent, and one unexcused; after
that, it will require a parent/teacher conference to determine eligibility.

Who is handling the 5th grade band this year?

Ms. Semadeni, SMS band director, will be directing SIS 5th grade band. 
Rehearsals are on Monday and Thursday, from 2:30-3:30 in the MS music suite.
