Please Keep for Your Information.

  Planner

Students copy the Daily agenda and

daily assignments.

Due the following Monday

Lists work completed in class, homework, and due dates

Files

Student is expected to keep all papers for each subject in the appropriate files, numbered, and in order until the file reviews at Midterm and End of Quarter.   Examples are posted in both classrooms.  Parents will receive a File Review Letter to sign approximately 1 week before file checks.  This letter also includes the student’s current grade for each subject.

Notebooks

Student is expected to have a separate spiral notebook for class. Files and notebooks are checked periodically for completeness and accuracy.

Materials

Daily assignment sheet, files, notebooks, textbooks, pencils and necessary supplies are required everyday. No gel pens.

Math Aims

This class is in addition to your child's grade level math class. The goal is to stregthen basic math skills that were not mastered in previous years. This means that there will be two math lessons each day. I will try to allow time at the end of my class to help with any homework questions from their regular grade level class. All Math assignments must be completed on time, neatly, and in pencil.

Science

Students will be learning about our changing world by using the Scientific Method.

We will be using the Scott Foresman Seeing Science in a Whole New Light textbook to focus on the metric system of measurement, how to conduct an investigation, the make up of our atmosphere and weather.   Students will learn about surveys, statistics and how Science is applied in life through “ Science Court ”, a computer program used in-class.  Attendance is a must.  Further application of Science skills will be assessed in the AIMS test in April.   Science meets 5 days a week. Please refer to the daily assignment sheet to keep on task with what we are studying, and when assignments are due.

Homework

Students are given class time for assignments.   Any assignments that are not completed during class become homework. Students are to write the due dates on their daily assignment sheets.   If an assignment is not completed on time, the student will be assigned a strike coupon. The Stike requires a parent signature to ensure that you are

informed of the missing assignment. The student may still turn in the assignment for late credit. 3 strikes in a grading Period disqualifies your child from Participation in our reward day.
