How often do students have homework?
Math- Homework is extra practice over what we have learned in class. The
students will have time to begin the work in class, and are to finish at
home. In addition to the days assignments, students always have the
homework assignment of correcting previously graded assignments for more
credit. Please ask to see your child's planner for the days lesson and due
dates.
Science- Most of our Science work will be done in class. It is still a
good idea to ask to see what has been completed in their folders, and check
their planner for the specific assignments and topics of study.** Students
are to keep graded assignments until the end of midterms and quarters.
How can my child raise his / her grade?
I do not offer extra credit work. Time really does not allow for extra
assignments if they are correcting previous ones and completing a current
nights. The one extra credit I offer is a weekly parent signature.
I find when parents see what we are working on weekly, my students perform
better and do not miss assignments. Another way to raise a grade is to
correct the weeks previous assignments for more credit.
Is there homework help?
There is homework help offered in our Library every Monday and Tuesday
afterschool. I am available at lunch and during our Channel One time daily.
I also have after school days for extra help, usually on
Tuesdays and Fridays. I let the students know ahead of time as it varies
with my own family's schedule.
What if my child is absent?
We have a study buddy system. Each child has a buddy to call for
information, and that buddy also copies down and collects assignments for
the absent student. When your child returns to school the missed
assignments and work will be in my Make up work folder in the back of my
room.
