FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
Do I have to volunteer every week? No, you tell me your schedule and I will fit you into ours. Not necessarily. I have teachers that have requested that their volunteers possess some knowledge of the class subject. But in many areas, experience is not needed. Can my name be on a "call" list? Of course, as long as you don't mind being called sometimes at the last minute. What process do I have to go through to be approved? Upon contacting me, I will give you a volunteer form to complete. If you are not the parent or guardian of a student, I will also give you a fingerprint card to complete. The cost of fingerprinting is $3-$5. I will have the principal approve it and then it is off to the school board to approve. At this time, (you can start volunteering while waiting for approval) I will call you and we will have a short orientation meeting and then you are ready to volunteer! If I have a suggestion as to a volunteer spot, could I let you know? Of course. I am always open to suggestions. I will also have areas ready to fill or suggest to you. What are some of the areas I can help in? Volunteering in the classroom, school dances, special events, lunch recess monitoring, before school campus monitoring, and Science Olympiad are a few of the areas you can help. At this time, I have a 6th grade math class and a Language Arts class that really could use some volunteers. Our after school Art Club and Homework Club could use some extra help. These are both held from 3:30 - 5:30 pm. If I have already been approved to volunteer, am I good to go for this year? Yes, and I have a listing of those volunteers that have been approved so if you are not sure, I can check the list. If I am approved through one school can I work in another? Yes, as long as you are approved and have been fingerprinted (if you are not a parent or guardian) you can work in the school district. I would like some information about escrip. EScrip is an easy way for our school to earn money. Once you register as an eScrip supporter (with your Safeway card, Debit, ATM, and credit cards) online at www.eScrip.com or by mailing in the eScrip registration form, your purchases give your group of choice (Sahuarita Middle School!) a percentage of the purchase made. There is no up front cost to you. Supporters us their registered cards when paying for merchandise at participating merchants. The participating merchant contributes a percentage of the sale to our school. All donations are done electronically and there is nothing futher for you to do but your usual purchasing. You can go to eScrip's website to find participating merchants. Safeway and Macys are participants of the eScrip program. You can do online shopping also. eScrip Visa card also has a program for contributions. The Claim Jumper and Coco's are examples of dining locations you can enjoy a meal at for contributions to our school. Does Fry's have a school promotion? Yes, On your next visit, take your Fry's card AND the Sahuarita Middle School bar code (if you did not receive it through the school newsletter, I have it here at school to give you) to use for your purchases. That automatically tells the system to give a donation from Fry's to our school. From that point on, just use your Fry's grocery card and do your usual shopping. No upfront costs or inventory! What are some other places that give "FREE" money back to the school? Target (use your Target red card credit card), Foot Locker, Subway, 1-800- FLOWERS, Office Max, Verizon, and Travelocity are stores you can shop at. For further information, please call me. |
