Hello Everyone.
Last Week
Salli Foster came in last week. Thank you to all who sold and/or donated to our class!!!
This Week
We will have spelling and math assessments this Friday.
If you have not signed up for Pizza Friday yet, we have an opening on Friday :)
Remember to sign up on the website also for the Potluck on the 25th. Any side dishes or desserts are great!!!
Please sign up for parent/teacher conferences on the class website. This will be up today. The password is parents1.
Please check your child's communication thoroughly. Feel free to recycle any old papers to keep communication folders from getting cluttered.
Homework
Reading Logs - Students are expected to read at least 30 minutes per night, Monday through Thursday, and fill out their reading log. They are required to write at least 2 complete sentences or 1 long descriptive sentence summarizing what they read. Please initial your child's reading log nightly once they have completed the written portion.
Math - Students may have Saxon homework if they were not able to complete it in class. They are to complete all the practice problems for the lesson on graph paper. If the lesson is an odd number, the student completes the odd problems of the problem set on Saxon paper. If it is an even numbered lesson, they complete the even numbered problems. I know this sounds confusing, but we go over it every day in class and the 4th grade students are getting the hang of it. The 5th and 6th grade students already know the routine from last year. You do not need to grade the math homework since we do so in class. Please encourage your child to label their name and the lesson number, complete the math in pencil, and write legibly.
Believe me, they know :)
Spelling/Math Corrections: The math and spelling assessments from last week will be in your child's communication folder Monday night. Spelling corrections consist of rewriting each misspelled word three times each on a separate piece of paper. If a sentence or definition was incorrect, that needs to be corrected on a separate sheet as well. Math corrections consist of reworking the missed problem on a separate sheet of paper (Saxon or graph). If your child cannot figure out why they missed a problem after trying to rework it, they can highlight the problem on their test, and I will help them during Math Q&A on Tuesday. (No spelling corrections this week!!!)
