Christy:
My name is Christy Cantu. I am very excited to be teaching your
children this year! This will be my 15th year with Villa Montessori’s
Elementary II program. I started out assisting while I completed my
Montessori 6-12 training and my Bachelors in Education from ASU.
I have three lovely children, Reese, Faith, and Jewel. Reese is a third-year
in Miss Lura's class, and Faith is a second-year in Miss Megan's class, while
Jewel just turned two and is flourishing in Villa's Toddler program.
I love teaching because it’s rewarding to watch and encourage children to grow
and feel confident in their unique gifts. My goal and my approach is to
support their confidence and esteem, while helping them see that they can
reach the next step.
Outside of teaching, I love spending time with my family in our home in
Phoenix. My husband, Chris, and I love and appreciate the historic downtown
area. In my spare time, I love to shop for antiques and take family outings.
Alex MacFarland:
I am returning for my sixth year as one of Christy's Assistants. I really
enjoy working with both Christy and Zoila, and feel we make a terrific team.
It's so exciting to see the faces of returning students, as well as those of
the new students! It's definitely bittersweet, watching them grow and mature,
and finally move on. I'm so very happy to be a part of their lives.
My family includes my husband, Bill, who is a software engineer at General
Dynamics, and our two sons, Eidan and Cael. This year, Eidan is a Sixth-Year
in Shannon Smith's class, and Cael is very excited to (finally!) be moving up
to the E-2 campus, where he will be a Fourth-Year in Monica's class. We also
have a huge English Mastiff, Elektra, as well as two kitties, Sandy and Bettie.
In my personal time, I love to sew, sing, and go hiking with my boys.
Zoila Lubin:
Hello, I am one of Christy's Assistants, as well. This is my sixth year
working at Villa Montessori (all of it spent in Christy's class), but not my
last. I love being creative with the students, as well as building strong
relationships with them.
I am currently taking college classes as I pursue my Bachelors degree. I have
taken the Montessori Training for the Pre-Primary level, and am anxiously
looking forward to being a Montessori Teacher one day.
I am 25 years old, a mother, and a wife. My daughter, Kendra, is six years
old, and is in Miss Alanna's class, and my son, Kaylum, will be turning two
the first week of school. My husband, Beethoven, is a Marine Veteran.
