Announcements

2011-2012

1/16/12

Thank you to all the families who helped make our European Luncheon a great success.  The children were enthusiastic about sharing their projects with everyone.  It is now time to move on to Australia!  Our Australia presentations will take place March 19-22, and the signup form is now available on the website.

Please take a moment to review the 2011-2012 calendar; it has recently been updated.

I have also posted the signup form for Parent/Teacher Conferences that will be held on May 4th and May 7th.

Scholastic book orders are due January 20.

Finally, please continue to send in items that Miss Lianne has requested for ODE.  She has a very limited budget for materials and really needs  help supplementing the works that she has planned for the children.

1/3/12

I have posted a link for this week's field trip. The permission slip needs to be signed and returned as soon as possible. Ms. Michelle has just taken over the field trip planning details and it is our goal to plan further ahead in the future. As it is now, our trip is Thursday so I will be sending home a hard copy and have made the permission slip available on our website in case it is misplaced/lost.

1/2/12

I hope everyone had a wonderful break! I apologize for the delay in posting the sign up for presentation times and the potluck luncheon. The evening of 12/16, my house flooded after a pipe burst. I spent most of the break in hotels and managing appts for plumbers, insurance adjustor, etc. Needless to say, I am looking forward to the familiar routine of being back in the classroom and seeing all of your children as we welcome a new and better year! Please take a moment to sign up for a presentation time for your child, as well as a potluck dish to bring for our European luncheon. There are 27 students in the class and we expect most parents to attend so please plan your dish accordingly. Prior to the luncheon, all of the reports will be on display for an exhibit tour, beginning at 11:15. Lunch will follow at 12:00. We will need help setting up for our luncheon and help to clean up afterward.

The Pizza Friday sign up is also posted for Jan.-April. Please be sure to sign up for a time to volunteer, particularly if you were unable to from Aug.-Dec. so it is fair for all. With all parents participating, it should only be necessary to come in and help once or twice for the year. Thank you for your support with this!

Happy New Year to all!

11/20/11

By now your child should have completed Brainstorming Steps 1 and 2 from the research packet.  This means that they should have identified 5 subtopics and written 4 questions for each of those subtopics.   They should now be ready to visit the library and collect information.  The questions and their answers should be written on the colored fact cards for each subtopic.

By following the weekly plan in the research packet, your child will be on track to bring in a completed project when school resumes in January.  If there are any questions or uncertainties, please have your child bring in the packet so we can go through it step by step.  I am available to do this on any day except Mondays.

We REALLY need to find a host family for the guinea pigs over Thanksgiving break.  Please sign up on the website.

A new ODE newsletter has been posted.  Please read it to see if you are able to send in any of the requested materials.

Thank you!

11/4/11

Child as Teacher days will be 11/14-11/16.  This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to visit the classroom and have your child 'teach' you some of the lessons they have been working on! Please go to the signup form on the website to choose a time slot. Please observe quietly and respectfully because the rest of the class will be working while you are with your child.  It is important to adhere to the time slot chosen and leave promptly after that time has ended so the classroom does not become too crowded.

All research topic choices are due by Monday morning, and research packets will be sent home on Monday afternoon. Please go over all of the information and forms with your child. Follow the weekly plan beginning Monday, Nov. 7 and continue to follow the plan through the coming weeks. Oral presentations will begin Jan. 9. Our European tour and luncheon will be Friday, Jan. 13.

Yesterday's ceramics class was cancelled due to illness, and we plan to hold a make-up class next Thursday, 11/10. Please note that our time slot was changed again. Ceramics is now from 1:00-1:45. We will need additional parent volunteers for the make up class as well as for regularly scheduled classes (sign up on the website).

Parent volunteers are needed to encourage the children to value the ceramics opportunity and behave in the manner expected in the classroom and to hold the children accountable for cleaning up after themselves, leaving the area better than they found it. After the last regularly scheduled class, Mari (ceramics teacher) spent over 2 hours cleaning up. Although we are not her last class, it would be great if parents would head over to the ceramics area (behind the Davis campus) and help Mari clean and put things away beginning at 2:45 on ceramics days. Her back issues make it difficult to lift and/or carry materials. I'm sure she would greatly appreciate our help to make the clean up process go by more smoothly. Please consider helping Mari during this time to further show our appreciation for her time and effort for our children.

Have a good weekend!

10/31/11

On Tuesday, November 1st, our Innisbrook orders will be arriving at approximately 9:30 a.m. via a large delivery truck at the main campus (by the main office). We need a couple of volunteers from each class including middle school to help unload, sort and transport to the different campuses. This usualy takes a couple of hours, and counts towards your school volunteer time - plus it is a great way to meet other parents from other classrooms! Please email Elizabeth Pulley at calvinstwin@netzero.net if you are able to help on Tuesday morning. Many hands make light work, please consider helping!

If you missed the Montessori Math parent education event last week, you can review a PDF of the presentation on website.

The website has also been updated to include parent news from Lianne, the Outdoor Environment leader. Please read her news and see if you are able to contribute any of the needed supplies.

We are in need of newspapers for the guinea pig cage.

Ceramics will be held this Thursday from 12:30-1:15. There is still one spot available for a parent helper!

Thank you to the Patterson family for volunteering to help with Pizza Friday this week. You are asked to bring fruit, vegetables, and 100% juice for 27 children. Please arrive by 11:45 and plan to stay until 12:45 to serve and wash plates afterwards. You are welcome to bring paper plates instead if you wish.

Happy Halloween!

10/25/11

Tonight will be my Parent Education: Math event from 5-6:00. Hope to see you there!

10/20/11

Apparently with our new ceramics time, we also have changed dates. When I received notification regarding the new time change, I was not made aware of any date changes. I did follow up to confirm the dates would be the same but did not find out anything until today. I have updated the ceramics link with the new dates and cleared previous volunteers. Please consider signing up to help. As a reminder, our new time is 12:30-1:15.

10/16/11

How Montessori environments facilitate concentration: engaging materials, three-hour work cycles, and minimizing of forces that might disrupt concentration. In an effort to preserve our three-hour morning work cycle, Mary Orlando has arranged to have our ceramics moved to a different time. The dates are the same but we will now have ceramics from 12:30-1:15 every other Thursday. On these days, we will have lunch from 11:30-12 and recess from 12-12:30. Alison will be in touch with those parents who have signed up to help to see if the new time will still work for you.

Beata, our field trip coordinator, put together field trip ideas for the children to vote on. We finalized which trips the children are interested in and now Beata will be working on confirming dates and details of our trips for this year. Details to come.

Parent Education Meeting for Math is scheduled for October 25 from 5-6:00PM. I will be providing an overview of the sequence of Math materials and the ways each material builds upon the one before, leading each child to master concepts and eventual abstraction (mastery without materials). Other than supporting understanding of time, money, measurement, and basic math facts at home, Math concepts and operations are taught exclusively in the classroom as the Montessori materials are the key to full understanding. Come to the meeting to find out more about these amazing materials!

ODE will be beginning on Monday, 10/17. Maria and Jessica will be the teachers running ODE for now, while our new hire (Lianne) will be observing our classrooms and learning about how Montessori classrooms work. We hope to have Lianne join Maria in ODE within the next few weeks, freeing up Jessica to take the "floater" position she was hired for. Over the week, all children will have an opportunity to go outside and work on gardening, practical life, and follow up extensions to lessons presented in class. ODE will be offered in the mornings (Mon.-Thurs.) from 9-11:30 and afternoons (Mon., Wed., and Thurs.) from 1:30-2:30. Oranges are needed for this week's ODE for the juicing activity that has been set up.

I hope everyone had a wonderful fall break!

9/21/11

PIZZA FRIDAY: The Bertoncino family will be helping with Pizza Friday this Friday. Thank you Bertoncino family! You are asked to bring fruit, vegetables, and 100% juice, enough to feed 27 children. Please be there by 11:45 and plan to stay until 12:45 to serve and wash plates afterward. If you would rather provide paper plates, as opposed to washing them, you are welcome to do so.
CERAMICS: Thank you to Kris Martin and Keri Mickelson for signing up to help with ceramics tomorrow (September 22)!
ART MASTERPIECE: Art masterpiece will follow ceramics tomorrow (Thurs).
SCHOLASTIC: Scholastic book orders are scheduled to arrive Mon, 9/26.
PET CARE: We are still seeking a family to care for the guinea pigs during fall break. Please sign up at http://teacherweb.com/AZ/VillaMontessoriSchool/GeorgeneCunningham/ap17.aspx if you are able to help.
CLASSROOM NEWS:
We have hired a new ODE teacher for Meadowbrook. After a few weeks (probably 2) of observing our classes and consulting with lead teachers, we should be beginning ODE for the children (approx 6 children per class Mon-Thurs) to work on extensions to cultural lessons and practical life/nature (gardening, etc).

A copy of each child's star reading test will be going home today. The results indicate a comfortable reading level range for independent reading along with tips to focus on when practicing reading at home.

Daily and weekly expectations will be fading out for children who have used these guidelines to practice overall balance in work choices. The goal is to have all children reach this point. Part of getting there is not only balancing their work to ensure various areas of the curriculum are worked on but also being responsible for writing down daily work on their daily goal pages consistently. Student/teacher conferences will be conducted every other Fri. I will note on their form any areas to work on to support reaching these goals.

9/7/11

Weekly Expectation Update:

Due to a shortened week, I will be sending home a copy of weekly expectations from last week, 8/29-9/2, (for old students only-those in their 2nd or 3rd year with me) tomorrow. I still plan to meet for a student/teacher conference with the old students this Friday, 9/9. A copy of our conference form will be sent (for old students only) either this Fri. or the following Mon. (depending on how smoothly student/teacher conferences go) along with their daily pages for last week and this week and all completed work that is not kept within their Language book.

Two weeks from this Friday (9/23), I will meet with all students for a student/teacher conference. All new students will begin using a daily/weekly expectation list to ensure core curriculum areas are covered each week beginning Monday, 9/12. A copy of our conference form will be sent either Fri., 9/23 or the following Mon., 9/26 (depending on how smoothly student/teacher conferences go) along with their daily pages for the past two weeks and all completed work.

Daily pages, finished work, and a copy of your child's student/teacher conference form will be sent home every two weeks. Last year I did not send home the daily pages. Since I am recording their choices, based on their written record of their work for my own records, I will send home the daily pages along with finished work after I have a student/teacher conference. I would love for you to use these daily pages, finished work, and conference forms as a way to stay informed as to what your child is choosing over the previous two weeks. The only concern I have with doing this is that you may feel more should be done than what your child is writing. I would not want children to feel pressured to "invent work" so it seems they are doing more. Also, some of the work chosen is extensive and may not seem like much. Obviously, I cannot explain the time frame expected for each work and would not want to find myself in a position to do so. During conferences, I note areas I feel need improvement or areas that need more balance (areas of the curriculum that are avoided) on the conference form. You can count on me to let you know if I have any concerns about work choices, etc. by way of your child's conference form.

In the meantime, please reinforce the need to accurately record what work is chosen on a daily basis from home. I met with about half of the class this morning, some new and some old, to go over the importance of writing down what is being done. Some children had nothing recorded for Tuesday, 9/6 which equates to a day of looking out the window/not working (this is how I explained my interpretation of nothing written for a day's work). It is very important that work is recorded daily. Most of the work is labeled to make it easier to know what the work chosen is. The areas of the curriculum, on both the daily and monthly page, match the labeled shelves. For example, if the trinomial is worked with...it is found on the Geometry shelf (area of the curriculum to record) and the work is labeled. Therefore, using this example, the child would find the Geometry area, on their daily page, and write "trinomial." They also put an X or check mark on their monthly page for the area of the curriculum they have chosen work from (in this case, Geometry). I have reminded the children to record their work every day since school started, specifically as a reminder at 11:40 before they clean up for lunch/recess and also at 2:30 when they clean up and come to circle. New students have had the help of their guide, as well, to help them to know how to record their work from the start of school until last week. Many of the children that met with me today have not been recording their work, despite reminders. It is each child's responsibility to do this and a large part of taking responsibility for their learning as part of being in a Montessori classroom. Please ask your child how they're doing with this. If they met with me today, following morning circle, please check that they know what they are expected to do and ask on a daily basis if they are writing down what they chose. If it is clean up time and a work cannot be finished (for lack of time), the work should still be recorded (as "started...(name of work)).

Ceramics begins tomorrow at 9:00 am. Ceramics, PE, Music, Odyssee of the Mind, and field trips are funded with your ECA funds. According to Villa policy, if these fees are not paid, participation in these activities is not allowed. My hands are tied in this situation. If you have not paid the ECA fee, please set up a payment plan with Heather in the business office, 602-381-9967, so that your child does not miss these activities. If a payment plan is not set up or an application for a scholarship is not submitted, children not participating will stay back in the classroom to work or help with classroom needs. Thank you to Kristina Pham and Keri Mickelson for assisting with ceramics tomorrow. There are still spots available to help with future ceramics classes. The 45 minute ceramics session allows Michelle and I to discuss and prepare work for the class. As long as we have parent volunteers, we are able to utilize this time to get caught up and plan. However, without volunteers, Michelle must go with the children to help. Please help us by signing up to volunteer. Please check the schedule to sign up for a time : )

Our Innisbrook fundraiser ends this Monday, 9/12. Half of all purchases goes directly to our classroom for needed materials. Please do your best to sell items to help raise money for our classroom. Montessori materials are incredibly expensive. Your donations/helping hands, excess Pizza Friday funds, and this fundraiser are our sole means of purchasing materials for the class during the school year.

One more family interested in meeting in late Sept./Oct. to learn about our Math materials from 5-6pm (date to be determined)? I have four interested families, at this point. One or more families (the more the better) and I am happy to organize and plan a parent education session to explain the math materials. Please let me know if you are interested via email.

CLARIFICATION...

There is only an oral reading checklist coming home today, to be used as a cover sheet. These checklists are dated (from Sept. - Dec., last one due in Jan.). This checklist can easily be used as a cover sheet when turning in homework on Mondays...no need for a separate cover sheet. Sorry for any confusion.

8/29/11

Very important...Coming home on Monday (in a large clasp envelope):

  • Dibels scores

If your child needs strategic help, I am committed to providing 2-3 1 on 1 or small group lessons per week to support their needs. If your child needs strategic help, I am committed to providing 1 on 1 or small group lessons to support their needs daily. My commitment to offer needed support will begin following the Labor Day holiday as I am still finishing the last of the assessments and beginning informal lessons this week. Informal lessons are those that are based on work that indicates a child is confused with the work they are doing or needs a review lesson, particularly in Math.

*All children need to be reading aloud to a parent daily, regardless of their Dibels scores.

  • Oral Reading checklist-to be used once a week and turned in with homework cover sheet (see explanation below)
  • New students only-handwriting practice (turn in each Monday with homework cover sheet)
  • 1st Grade Parents-transition help
  • Homework cover sheets for Sept.-Dec. Please put these in a safe place as they will be needed weekly. Every Monday, the following should be attached to the cover sheet: math fact practice sheets (completed in color and corrected by your child using the finger chart provided) and oral reading checklist (used one day per week). New students only: handwriting practice also.

Scholastic flyers will be coming home on Monday, separately. Please follow instructions to place your orders online or send in a check, payable to Scholastic, along with your book order. Orders are due by 9/16.

Coming home on Thursday...

  • Math fact practice sheets-to be completed in color and corrected by your child using the finger chart which will be sent home as well. Please keep the finger chart in a safe place as it will be needed each week to complete this part of your child's homework. Addition finger charts are used for both addition and subtraction in order to reinforce the concept of fact families.

General Info.

Hearing and Vision screenings will be done on 9/19 due to the latest heat advisories.

The ceramics schedule has been updated and posted. Please choose a time to help with this special class. Our first ceramics class is 9/8.

New Parents Only-Parent Meeting: 8/31 at 7:00 PM on the main (Villa) campus in Jen Bailey's classroom near the office. I realize I mentioned you would be receiving an invitation, as that is what I was asked to tell you from the administration. However, if you haven't received an invitation, and I'm guessing you haven't, since I haven't seen it, you will probably not be getting one. This was not something I was responsible for. Sorry!

Late Sept./Oct possible parent education session on Math materials update:
So far I have heard from 3 families who prefer a time frame of 5-6 and 1 family that prefers 3-4. I am happy to plan and organize this if there are at least 5 families interested in one time frame. If you are interested, please be sure to email me. So far the families I have heard from, who are interested, are: Pham, Allen, Butler, and Ostendorf.

Wednesday is Maria Montessori's birthday, a day we honor for all the wonderful work she did over the course of her life. This week we will be sharing stories about her life and presenting work the children can choose to learn more about her.

To help your child strengthen their listening skills, when a question is asked that you know the answer is already known, reply with, "What do you think...?" rather than telling. Also, when you feel your child is not attentive to your words, ask them to repeat back what they heard you say. After a while, they will expect you to ask them and will prepare by listening more attentively. These are a few tricks we use in class. We will also be working on developing listening skills, in general, in class.

All children are working on their own or with partners of their choice (as long as they do not disturb others this week). Children not new to the class are completing daily and weekly expectations this week. I will send home a copy next Tues. Our first student/teacher conference will take place Friday, 9/9 (just for old students who are completing daily and weekly expectations). The following week (9/12-9/16) all students will have daily and weekly expectations to complete and will conference with me on 9/23. Student/teacher conferences are conducted every two weeks on Fridays. A copy of the conference form will be sent home along with completed work that is not kept at school, ideally Friday but sometimes on Monday, depending on how the day goes. On the Fridays I do not conduct conferences, a copy of your child's expectation list will be sent home the following Monday. Confirmed/checked work is initialed on the expectation list. If there is no initial, it is not done. Sometimes a child tries to complete one of their expectations but need a lesson. In this case, I will initial the work and add, "tried."

Areas still needing help from parents:

Pet Care for extended breaks-schedule on website

Event Planner-at least one, preferably two (see Volunteer Positions link)

Art Masterpiece will be beginning Sept. 22, following ceramics. For those of you who signed up to help, Denise will be in touch soon.

Virtue this week: Enthusiasm
Virtues past, but still reviewed: orderliness, flexibility, and consideration

8/23/11
I am happy to say the incident that occurred yesterday has been resolved. I have no doubt it was a mistake that was learned from. We will "wrap" up the incident today with a follow up discussion on the importance of honesty and how much better we feel when we practice this important virtue. We will not be discussing who was responsible as that is unimportant, at this point. And then, as a class, we will commit to moving forward rather than trying to figure out who did it. Thank you to everyone for discussing the virtues of honesty and integrity at home. This was an excellent example of a teachable moment with regard to teaching virtues.

8/22/11

We had to deal with a very unfortunate incident today. A rock collection, brought in by a student to share with the class, was taken. We are unsure of exactly what happened but we do know they were taken and ended up in someone else's bag. This incident is a teachable moment. We will be discussing the importance of honesty and integrity, important virtues that apply, in class tomorrow. We are not looking for investigative details but would just hope the child responsible would quietly acknowledge the mistake that was made by way of a private conversation with a teacher or a handwritten note. This acknowledgment will not be shared with the other children. I feel strongly that in order to learn from our mistakes, which of course we all make, we have to take responsibility for them. Please discuss this at home.

Thank you for your support with this! Please review the link, Ways to Support Virtues at Home, for helpful tips to use during this converservation.

8/19/11

We have only one laundry volunteer. There are two days of laundry each week. Either I will need to start taking it home or feel terribly guilty for sending it with the same family 2x this week. Please sign up to help with this. With four families, it works out to only one load every two weeks. Thanks!
8-17-11

School-wide virtues curriculum: In class, we will study one virtue each week, and all teachers, administrative, and management staff will focus on the same virtue at the same time. Please read Ways to Support Virtues at Home on the website for additional information.

Please check the Wish List/Helping Hands page to see if there is anything that you might be able to provide for the classroom. Thank you for your contributions, as they greatly enhance the learning environment. The requested items are also posted on the ODE entry door.
There are still spots available if you would like to participate in Pizza Friday.
Calling all animal lovers! Only one person has signed up for pet care during extended breaks. Our furry friends would love to get to know your family better, so check the signup page on the website, and invite them for a visit.
Our classroom blinds and windows need to be washed, and the work stools need to be inspected and tightened. If you are available to help with any of these tasks at any time on August 26 from 8:00am-3:00pm, please let me know. You may stop by on the 25th anytime from 12:00-3:00 to preview the job(s). If you have any questions, feel free to email me.
We still need two parent helpers to assist Denise Bertoncino with Art Studies. Sign up on the website if you are able to help with this great program.
This year's Halloween carnival will be on Saturday, October 22. Two volunteers are needed from each classroom per hour, and the signup form has been posted on the website. The area to be worked will be determined at a later date, and you will receive a reminder email or call two days before the event.
Would you like to know more about our Montessori math materials and how they are used in the classroom? I would be willing to schedule this parent education opportunity in September or October if there is sufficient interest. Please let me know if this interests you and if you would attend in the afternoon (3:00-4:00pm) or evening (6:00-7:00pm).

8-8-11

1st Day of School News/Reminders

We had a good first day of school today. All new students were paired with a 2nd or 3rd year guide.

All of the children have hooks in ODE to put their backpack on and lunchboxes go on the shelf above their hook. The morning procedure will be to put their backpack and lunchbox on the designated picnic table outside, upon arrival. They will need to take their communication folder and anything else meant for me (supplies, for example), and put in the basket marked for communication folders. Next, put their labeled snack in the labeled snack basket-there are permanent markers in the basket, for your convenience. Healthy snacks only, please-protein bars, fresh fruit or vegetables, etc.

We went over some of the procedures in class-bathroom, snack, work basics, etc. We will be continuing to review and will go over other important details throughout this week and then as needed.

We are eating lunch from 12-12:40, cleaning up, and then have recess for anywhere from 15-20 minutes while it is still so hot out. Our usual schedule (see daily schedule link on website) will be 12-12:30 lunch and then recess from 12:30-1 once it cools off a bit.

Reminder: All lunches need to include a placemat, a napkin, and a beverage. A labeled water bottle is a must every day.

For those new to a Montessori environment, please expect transition time over the coming weeks. The Montessori environment is very different from public school. There is more freedom of movement and choice than what was given in a typical public school. The guides are helping new students learn how to choose work. Lessons from me over the coming weeks will help give new students more choices also. I am observing a great deal over these first few days and giving a few mini lessons in between (to support the guides to be able to help the new students make choices). After the first few days, I will begin assessments and then individualized/small group lessons will begin.

Remember, this Wed. is Parent Orientation. If you have other children in another E1 class, the ideal solution would be to have each parent go to an orientation meeting and then share the information with one another afterward. If this is not possible, please know that my meeting will include a detailed PowerPoint (you will have a copy in hand) along with handouts which can be read through if you can't avoid missing the meeting. I am happy to answer questions you may have via email. The meeting begins promptly at 7. It is for parents only, no children.

Pizza Fri. begins Aug. 19. Please click on the Pizza Fri. link, if you haven't already done so, read over, print, and send with payment via your child's communication folder as soon as possible so that I can plan for pizza for those who will be participating.

I hope this gives you a good overview of how things are/will be going in the classroom over the next few weeks. Please email me if you have any questions.

See you on Wed. =)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am so excited to be beginning another school year! I have so many wonderful and exciting new plans for a great year ahead in store for your child! We have hired staff, specifically, to be in charge of an outdoor environment experience where the children will be working on science experiments, art, cultural extensions, gardening, and the list goes on. Beginning in a few weeks, 6 children from each of the Meadowbrook classes will be given the opportunity to work in the outdoor environment each week. With this new staffing in place for outdoor environment, each of the classrooms will have one main assistant that will assist lead teachers in the classroom. I was especially blessed this year to find Michelle, our new assistant. She is very excited about working in a Montessori classroom and loves children, in general. I think one of the best features of having Michelle this year is having someone who is so eager to learn more and facilitate the type of environment that fosters independence and the unlimited potential in each of your children. Michelle is awe struck by the fact that a Montessori classroom that is running well is run, primarily, by the children. She respects and appreciates the need to guide and encourage leadership in the children rather than to direct and take charge. When the classroom reaches normalcy, it is evident in the way the children have owned their own responsibilities in their education as well as feel responsible to help one another as a classroom family. As always, we will strive to achieve normalcy. With an ideal assistant, such as Michelle, this will likely be achieved sooner than later. According to Villa policy, we ask that you trust and allow time for the class to come together during the coming months. Beginning in October, parents are encouraged to schedule a time to come in and observe. It is an amazing experience to observe what I have tried to share in words. After 15 years of teaching, every year I am still amazed at what the children can accomplish both personally and as a member of our classroom family member.

Pizza Friday: Please click on the link, read over the information, and print a copy. Plan to bring the form and payment with you on open house or the first day of school. There is also a link to sign up to help with a Pizza Friday. Please choose a Friday sometime between Aug. and Dec. if your child will be participating. Thanks!

Friday, August 5, we will be having an open house for children and their families to come in and see the classroom as well as to drop off school supplies. Please bring all supplies at this time including pizza funds. Car line cards (to put on the passenger side of your dash) will be handed out during open house to help make dismissal go smoothly right from the start = )

If you would like to accompany your child on the first day of school, please use the shuttle available during the first week of school. Park and ride from Mountain View Christian Church, 2927 E Campbell Ave.

Vision and hearing screenings will take place on 8/24 for all new students as well as those receiving special services from Villa. Please be sure your child is in attendance that day, particularly.
