Message from Katie:
Class,
I want to thank the Shamblin Family for donating Flower and Petal our new gerbils. If you have toilet paper rolls or paper towel rolls please have your child bring them in for the gerbils to shred. We are looking forward to Halloween and also studying Dinosaurs a bit this month. Fridays are sharing (show and tell) days. If your child would like to bring an educational or unique item to talk to the class and show them please have them bring it in on Fridays. No toys please.
Dates to remember this month:
10/12-16 Fall Break (All Day Contract children only)
10/23 Rich the Reptile Man will visit with his great animals, this is a not want to miss visitor.
10/24 Villa Halloween Carnival
10/30 Halloween party in the morning, no costumes please, more info to come.
Remember if you child is an All Day child that he/she needs to bring a snack on Fridays for the afternoon.
I am going to begin sending the dirty plates and possibly cups home each Friday with the child who provided veggies/fruit and a drink for Pizza Friday. Please clean them and bring them back the following Mon.
If possible we do need 4oz. paper cups for morning snack. It is easier for the children to eat yogurt, cottage cheese, apple sauce, etc. from acup and our water cups are cone shaped. If anyone is able to donates some that would be great.
Colleen is beginning to prepare the garden. She and Lydia (Mariposa's Mom) are working on a plan. If you want to help, please contact them and we will be sending home a list of items she needs for the garden and the ODE. I know we do need a new garden hose, please check with Colleen for size and /or length if you are able to donate one.
Thanks for all you do for our classroom and your children. Read to them daily. Praise them often. And at the same time follow through on your family rules/limits and restrictions. Have a great week.
Love--
Teacher Katie

Hi parents, this website has been fully updated, and MANY THANKS to a lot of help from Lorraine Rhoads (Andrew's mom). I will send out most of my messages via this News Flash portion of the site to make it easier for to access other links in the site and utilize it when necessary (i.e., sign up opportunities).
PIZZA FRIDAY: check out the link above, we have only 3 Pizza Fridays left to fill for the 1st half of the year. The 2nd half of the year is also posted, so please sign up where you can to fill inthe blanks. Click on the link and the instructions for signing up are at the top of the page.
CERAMICS: starts next Wednesday! Typically Ceramics is every other week, to start we have it 2 weeks in a row. We need 2 volunteers for each ceramics class, and you do not need to be experienced, you will be instructed on how to help! We have 2 for the first class and only 1 for the next classes October 7th, so we need one more for October 7th. Starting November 4th there are lots of slots open, so please click on the link above for ceramics and sign up for a date that works for you! Instructions to sign up are at the top of the page.
ABSENTEE PHONE LINE: we have an absentee phone line (new this year). Even if you inform the teacher your child will be gone, the school also wants you to report the absense via the absentee phone line so they have a record of the absense and reason. The phone # is 602-458-1356, save it in your cell phone! If you need it in the future there is a link on this website with the information as well.
CLASS SOCIAL: Cynthia Fernandes (Gavin's mom) and Barbara Berastegui (Eva's mom) are coordinating the class social. They are considering options in late October (pumpkin carving party perhaps) and we will get more details out to you shortly so you can save the date.
BOX TOPS: We are in need of a box tops coordinator / volunteer for our class who would be in charge of collecting and redeeming / remitting box tops. It is a minimal time requirement, and would be appreciated! Please let me know if anyone is interested.
Please let me know if you have any questions, I am not sure you can reach me by responding to this message... I'll find out shortly! My email is
leslie@sbptnrs.com, please email me with any questions!
Thanks and have a great weekend!
